Star Trek – 2009 Best Movie!

OMG! OMG! OMG!!!

My honey (read: husband) took me to see the new Star Trek movie this afternoon and bought me lunch and popcorn (he’s a sweetie and he’s all mine! LOL) “just because”…

That was the best present EVER!!!!

We’re geeks, we admit it, and we also had a Star Trek wedding on the bridge of the Enterprise (Next Generation) in Vegas many years ago (just awesome!) and so you know, if there’s something Trek out there, we own it or we’ve seen it. We are true Star Trek fans.

So, of course, we had to see the movie and man,  it was worth every single penny we paid for the admission and then some!

I don’t want to ruin it for those who haven’t seen it yet, but all I can say is if you enjoy a good action movie (you don’t have to be a Sci-Fi fan btw), J.J. Abrams absolutely filmed a MASTERPIECE and I kid you not, I was on the edge of my seat for the entire movie… WOW! We are definitely looking forward to sequels. It can’t stop there – this is, in my opinion, THE BEST movie of the year for 2009, at least so far. It’s going to be extremely hard to beat.

The actors all truly did a fantastic job… and they are all so lovable (well ok, not Nero! LOL)…

The storyline is just awesome (you really don’t have to be a Star Trek fan to enjoy this movie, truly, it’s just awesome no matter what) and I have to say that I wasn’t sure how well I would like Zachary Quinto playing my favorite original series character (Spock), because, in all honesty, Leonard Nimoy is “My Spock Forever”, and I was afraid that I’d be reminded of Zachary’s “Sylar” character on Heroes too much (I watched Heroes for awhile but I’m not a big fan of that particular show, and the character Sylar really scared me) but Zachary did such an incredible job in his role of Spock in the movie that he totally won me over! 

Zach, my dear, if you are ever reading this blog entry – I tip my hat off to you! You are one heck of a great actor and you really pulled it off. You’ve just gained a fan :) (and Leonard, we’ve had the chance to meet before, and you know I’ll never stop being a fan of yours and of all the work you do, including your beautiful poetry!)

So, J.J. Abrams, please do this again… We want more! Lots more!!!

New Work – Alanna Rock Crystal Necklace

When I saw these really cool chunky natural Rock Crystal Quartz beads (real quartz from Mother Earth, not glass), I already knew exactly what I was going to make with them…

I haven’t done beaded jewelry in a little while, and although I prefer to pound metal, I still enjoy making the odd beaded piece from time to time, and so I present to you “Alanna” today!

It's a “lux” beaded triple strand necklace which features natural Rock Crystal Quartz, natural Blue Tourmaline, and Turquoise beads. All metals in this piece are of course Sterling Silver and Fine Silver:

This song reminds me of great times I had singing in the car with my late Sistuh Callie several years ago when I visited her. We used to crank up the CD in the car and sing our heads off, while driving around Miami… man did we have a blast! Soak up that sun my dears…. enjoy every minute of your life.

Tuesday Video Break – Depeche Mode – The world in my eyes

As you will get to figure out over time, you will see that I enjoy a very wide range of music, from classical to alternative, rock to country… pretty much anything goes :)

This week, I want to feature one of my all time favorite groups. I’ve been listening to them for years and years, and I never grow tired of their music… Depeche Mode… I have many favorites songs of theirs, and so I’m starting with this one – The world in my eyes…. There’s that dreamy red convertible I talked about a few weeks ago! Enjoy!

New Work – Spring Paisley Pendant & SNOW!

As I was looking at the snow falling yesterday (yes, my dears…. in JUNE!!! See the picture taken of my backyard yesterday morning at 6 AM) , and then later on, hours and hours of hail – unbelievable, I know – I was desperately dreaming of Spring and Summer and decided to create a pretty Spring Paisley pendant for my wire wrapped collection. You can find it here in my Etsy shop.

I remember as a child growing up in the 60’s and 70’s, that I had a couple of cool Paisley outfits (one of my favorites had shades of green, pink and purple… really cute!) and I always wanted to do a paisley pendant, so this is one of them. There will be a few more to come at some point, as I had a lot of fun making it :)

Here’s a picture of the snow falling early yesterday morning, June 6th. Some places just outside of Calgary received as much as 15cm (6 to 7 inches) of snow yesterday, according to the news:

I had never seen snow in June in all of my life. Guess there’s a first for everything! ;)
