A stunning Moissanite and Recycled Wedding/Engagement Ring
in 14kt Rose Gold by Tamara McFarland of McFarland Designs.
I was just reading this very interesting “Jewelry Business” related article in the New York Times and they talk about the current economic downturn hitting a lot of big jewellers/companies very hard this past year. People are scaling down the amount of money they spend on jewelry as a whole, and although they continue to invest a sizable amount of money towards engagement rings and wedding ring sets, people are spending less than they were a year ago… and that’s understandable, of course, given the current economic climate.
Now, the one BIG thing that the article did not even touch on (and I’m rather miffed about that!) is to offer artisan jewelry designers as a wonderful affordable alternative (you get more unique and better quality jewelry for your buck when you buy from an artisan jewelry designer compared to the machine-made-in-a-bezillion-copy-unoriginal stuff that big box stores carry). They have sprinkled a few comments throughout the article from jewelry buyers, and people talk about where to find better deals for your buck, etc, and no one even mentions ‘alternative’ places to get incredible Wedding Rings and Engagement rings, such as buying from Artisan Jewelry Designers!
I mean, look at the drop-dead super gorgeous ring that I’m featuring here today in my blog post, made by a friend of mine, Tamara McFarland. She doesn’t even know (yet) that I’m writing this blog article and featuring her work – I’ll tell her in a few minutes (Hi T!) :)
Sorry Tiffany & Co., but if you told me to choose between a commercial engagement/wedding ring and one made by hand by Tamara, my dears, I would pick Tamara’s rings hands-down!!!
I have purchased a couple of ‘regular/everyday rings’ made by Tamara last year and I LOVE THEM (and one day, I will own one of these magnificent upscale beauties that she makes as well. I’ve been drooling like crazy over them… forgive the bucket near my keyboard, it’s getting full here).
Now, not only are Tamara’s prices MORE AFFORDABLE (and yes, I am screaming it so that everybody in cyberspace will hear!) than commercial rings sold by Tiffany & Co, and all those other big companies, but Tamara’s work is personalized and customized, made to order for YOU.
Every single customer is treated with the utmost care, and you get super-high quality unique artisan jewelry. Like every bride that wants her engagement and wedding to be the most special time of her life, would you rather buy a regular engagement ring at a commercial venue, or get one made up especially for you to represent that special union of two souls for (hopefully) a lifetime?
Remember HANDMADE WEDDING folks – there are so many talented artisans who would be thrilled to be made part of your special celebration with all your wedding jewelry needs. Starting with my friend “T” – so make sure to visit Tamara’s Etsy Shop and Etsy to find some beautiful bridal/wedding jewelry!
P.S. And why don't you visit my Canadian Rockies Etsy Shop too while you're at it :) I have gorgeous upscale chainmaille jewelry for women and men that would be great for wedding gifts (Chainmaille bracelets for the groom, earrings or pendants for bridesmaids, beautiful unique upscale earrings for the bride, etc)...
Cheers! Nathalie
