Happy Long Weekend & Storm in Calgary

I just wanted to wish everybody up here in Canada a happy long weekend (most Canadian provinces have a Civic holiday going on today)… I’ll resume with my blog activities tomorrow.

We had quite an incredible storm around 2 AM last night with a tremendous amount of rain and hail falling, thunder and lightning non stop. My garden is shaken up, hopefully all the plants will survive.

I’ve rarely seen a storm of this magnitude in my life (and I’ve lived through tornadoes and tropical storms). It was scary. It looks like our Prairie Dog who is nesting out front under our porch survived the ordeal as his underground nest was protected from the winds and rain that were pounding on the other sides of the house. I’m very thankful for that. I was worried about him last night.

I'm not sure if the birds’ nest that we had up on the roof on the back in a corner of the roof area that is normally a good shelter, managed to survive. The storm came right smack at that nest head on. I’ll see later today if I hear the baby birds or not. I sure hope they survived… but it really doesn’t look promissing :(
