Some of you may have noticed that I had temporarily shut down my Etsy shop (vacation mode) last week, for family matters, and that I was no longer “online”.
My mom (73 yrs old) was feeling quite ill and we ended up in ER last Friday, and she has been in the hospital since. After a tremendous amount of tests and scans of all sorts, she has been diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer.
Thankfully, as far as we know, it has not spread anywhere else in her body. She has two small tumours, one on each ovary. So, there will be some chemo, and then they will do a hysterectomy, and then this will most likely be followed by more chemo for awhile to make sure all is clear.
I wanted to say a big thank you for all the thoughts and prayers received from all my friends on Etsy and Artfire. Many of you have also unfortunately had to deal with cancer, and your support and words of wisdom have been tremendously helpful.
My mom is a fighter and I will fight with her all the way.
All this also brings to mind the importance of enjoying each day to the fullest, while we can enjoy them, and to take good care of ourselves spiritually, mentally, physically, to strive for balance in our lives and for healthy living.
I know that this will change some things in regards to my daily routine and taking care of myself better. This is a good thing. Mom and I can do this together.
I just wanted to post this note on my blog, so that you don’t all think that I’ve disappeared. I’m still here, just not online as much.
My Canadian Rockies Etsy shop is open, but I have only activated items that are ‘ready to ship’. I am not taking on any custom work until further notice. I’m sure you understand.
May your Christmas be “merry” – ours will be, despite this news. We are simply very grateful that mom is still here with us, and we will fight for her to get many more Christmases.
